What to do if I am bullied?
Bullying is?
At Yeppoon State High School, bullying is defined as intentional, unwelcome and repeated behaviour by an individual or group that causes hurt which can be physical and/or emotional. There are three broad categories of bullying:
- Direct physical bullying e.g. Hitting, tripping, pushing, scratching, pinching, spitting and damaging property
- Direct verbal bullying - e.g. name calling, insults, threats, sarcasm, teasing, homophobic or racist remarks, and verbal abuse.
- Indirect bullying – This form of bullying is harder to identify and is often carried out behind the bullied person’s back. It is designed to harm someone’s social reputation and/or cause humiliation.
