At Yeppoon State High School, we prioritise cybersafety and actively work to ensure that students understand the importance of staying safe online. We provide education on responsible digital citizenship, focusing on key topics such as protecting personal information, respecting others in online environments, and identifying and responding to online threats, including cyberbullying and scams. Our aim is to empower students to make informed decisions, act ethically, and use technology in ways that contribute positively to their learning and personal growth. Through ongoing discussions and access to resources, we strive to create a safe and supportive online community for all members of our school.
To help protect students (and staff) from malicious web activity and inappropriate websites, the school operates a comprehensive web filtering system. Any device connected to the internet through the school network will have filtering applied. It is a requirement that all BYOx devices are connected to our school network at all times while onsite.
The eSafety Commissioner (www.esafety.gov.au/) provides a wealth of resources for educators, parents and students. eSafety is Australia's independent regulator for online safety. They educate Australians about online safety risks and help to remove harmful content such as cyberbullying of children, adult cyber abuse and intimate images or videos shared without consent.
