At Yeppoon State High School, Instrumental Music isn't just a subject—it's a vibrant, integral part of our educational journey. We believe in nurturing the musical potential of every student through a dynamic and supportive environment where creativity and discipline thrive.
Our comprehensive Instrumental Music program offers a diverse range of opportunities, from classical to contemporary, ensuring that each student can explore their unique musical interests.
With a team of passionate and experienced instructors, state-of-the-art facilities, and a variety of ensembles and performance opportunities, students can immerse themselves in the art of music-making. Students perform in concerts held for the local community, various eisteddfods and festivals both within our region and beyond.
Students may elect Music as a subject from Years 9 – 12. An Instrumental Music Program operates within the existing subjects by students going to specialised lessons.
The aim of the Instrumental Music Program is very clear: "to provide an extra dimension to a school music program." This extra dimension is in the form of group instruction in performance on woodwind, brass, strings or percussion instruments together with the opportunity to develop ensemble performance skills.
The instrumental program is not directed at providing instrumental instruction for individuals. The program is only offered in band and orchestral instruments although there are opportunities for accomplished piano and guitar players to perform with specific ensembles when required.
