Coming to the library in 2016 - Makerspace @ YSHS

Yeppoon High is one of seven successful secondary schools chosen to take part in the 2016 EQ Makerspace trial. Sixty-one schools applied in the initial Expression of interest. Phase 2 required thirty-one schools to develop an Implementation plan and from that fourteen schools are part of the 2016 trial.
A makerspace is a physical location that brings people together with the purpose of making, tinkering, fixing and sharing. Yeppoon High will use the library space R01 as a Makerspace in 2016.
This EQ trial aims to assist schools wanting to implement a makerspace and evaluate the usefulness of makerspaces to develop teacher & students’ Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) related skills.
Provided as part of the trial at Yeppoon is a Makerspace starter kit which includes:
  • 15 Intel Galileo (Arduino) computing boards
  • Makey Makey deluxe kit
  • Oculus Rift DK2
