Tutor Progam PDF Print E-mail
The Tutor Programme provides extra assistance for students experiencing literacy and numeracy difficulties in Years 8, 9 and 10.
The programme is offered to students, who have been nominated by teachers and / or parents, as needing extra support to achieve success academically. The positive flow on effect often seen is an improvement in a student’s self esteem.
Trained adult volunteers work one to one or one to two, for approximately one hour per week, in the school’s library. They concentrate on completing current classwork, homework and assessment items in Mathematics, English, Sose and Science. Students who have ascertained learning difficulties and want to improve their achievement levels are given the opportunity to develop a close learning relationship with their tutor.
Students who join in Year 8 may continue through until the end of Year 10.
The programme was developed in 1990 by our H.O.S.E.S. Barbara Korotcoff. We have 13 tutors, assisting around 40 students.
