STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
WHAT TO DO WHEN...
ABSENT FROM SCHOOL
A note from your parents/guardian must be provided when you are absent from school. Alternatively, your parents can ring the school on the student absence line on 4925 1360.
LATE FOR SCHOOL
Report to the office to sign in. Students who arrive late to school will be asked for a late pass. As a consequence of being late, you will be required to make up the work you have missed. It is important you understand that absences are noted on your official record and these may have an effect on your eligibility for Junior and Senior Certificates as well as Centrelink payments.
LATE FOR CLASS
If you are late to class because you have been helping another teacher, please ask for a note to give to your next teacher. If you do not have a valid reason, you will be required to make up the work missed in your own time.
LEAVING THE SCHOOL GROUNDS DURING THE DAY
This is not possible without your parent/guardian’s permission. Doctor’s appointments and the like should not be made in school time. DO NOT LEAVE THE SCHOOL GROUNDS WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE OFFICE.
LOST PROPERTY
Lost property can be taken to the Janitor’s office in B Block. If you have lost something check at the Janitor’s office and ask at the office.
FEELING SICK
Ask your teacher for permission to go to sickbay. If you are injured, or you witness an injury, please go to the nearest staffroom or the office and ask for help.
WANT TO SEE THE GUIDANCE OFFICE, SCHOOL NURSE OR CHAPLAIN
Make an appointment through the office staff during break times. STUDENTS MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE STAFF DURING CLASS.
NEED TO PAY ACCOUNTS
The office operates from 8:00am – 4:00pm. Any money to be paid should be done so through the office as soon as possible when you get to school.
DRIVE TO SCHOOL
Students’ vehicles are not permitted on school grounds. Please park on Rawlings Street or Melbourne Street and be cautious when arriving and departing from school. DO NOT PROVIDE LIFTS FOR OTHER STUDENTS WITHOUT PARNETAL PERMISSION THAT HAS BEEN VERIFIED BY SCHOOL STAFF.
TAKING/REQUIRE MEDICATION
Your parent/guardian must complete and Authority Form which is available from the office staff. More information will be given to you when you request this form.
HAVE MONEY OR VALUABLES AT SCHOOL
Where possible, do not bring valuable items to school. If it is necessary, please ask a teacher to look after it for you, or leave it at the office.
NEED TO GO INTO CLASSROOMS/STAFFROOMS
Do not enter rooms without the permission of a teacher. STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN STAFFROOMS WITHOUT A TEACHER.
RIDE YOUR BIKE TO SCHOOL
Bikes are to be locked at the bike racks. Students are not permitted to ride bikes in the school grounds.
EXCURSIONS
Generally these are organised by departments and will have educational outcomes. As students represent the school on these excursions, it is expected presentation is a priority, hence full school uniform is essential.
CHANGE ADDRESS
Any changes of address must be give to the office as soon as possible. It is vital the school has up to date information, especially in the event of an emergency.
REQUIRE EXTRA HELP
Your class teacher should be your first contact. If you require more help, please approach the Head of Department for the subject area, or see one of the staff in Learning Support. If you are unsure to approach, ask a teacher you get on well with for advice on who to talk to.
YOUR PARENTS WANT TO TALK TO SOMEONE AT THE SCHOOL
Your parents should call the office, and the office staff can put them in contact with the appropriate person.
TEXT HIRE AGREEMENTS
These agreements are due by the end of February each year, with payment a prerequisite if students are to participate in any extracurricular activities. If students choose to be part of this scheme and the payment of the fees proves to be a concern, contact must be made with the Registrar, as soon as possible.
