Monthly General Meetings are normally held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month when school is open and everyone is welcome to attend.
Chairpersons are subsequently elected to various Sub Committees such as the Tuck Shop Committee, Rugby League Committee, Grounds Committee, Music Committee, etc.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES The major activity of the P&C is the daily operation of the school Tuck Shop. This is operated by a full time Convenor plus three part time paid staff and a wide group of volunteers. The funding for the paid staff comes from the operational activities of the Tuck Shop.
The Tuck Shop also stocks and sells school uniforms in addition to its food activities.
Another self funding group is the School’s Rugby League Group which raises and expends funds in support of its various activities and is controlled by a Sub-Committee of the P&C.
The P&C is actively involved in the Queensland Council of Parents’ & Citizens’ Association (QCPCA) a peak body representing all State School P&C’s throughout Queensland. They provide a number of key support programs directly related to the various activities of the P&C. They include government representation, insurance, business operational guidance, etc.
The P&C also provides guidance and approval for the many programs run by the School to assist the School’s Executive team to better understand the desires and wishes of the P&C members as they directly relate to the School.
The P&C also actively supports approved Student activities by providing seed funding for their projects.
The P&C directs its profits to various projects within the School. It also actively seeks Grant Funding from a wide variety of sources - some examples include:
· Direct financial support to the School’s Chaplaincy services
· Cooler Schools program – in 2004 the P&C will be committing some $84,000 to the next round involving a further 22 classrooms. This will be funded by some $24,000 in cash with the balance in the form of a ten year Queensland Treasury Loan
· In 2004, $10,000 in the form of a School Resources Grant was made to the School and a further $2500 was made to cater for urgent Grounds work plus the concreting of the area beneath the Manual Arts Block
· Major activities of the P&C over the past 18 months has been in gaining external Grant funding for the myriad of worthwhile projects directly associated with the School.
· Tuck Shop air-conditioning
· Small equipment grant for Tuck Shop upgrades
· Livingstone Shire Council Grant for five new student picnic tables
· Department of Natural Resources, Reef Awareness Project which involved a number of students preparing a DVD recording the activities of the group
· Queensland Transport provided funds for a secure bicycle storage facility which was constructed by the Livingstone Shire Council in late 2004
